The United States has denied reports that Pakistan’s former President Pervez Musharraf had sought a meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over his return to Islamabad.
The Dawn quoted US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland as saying, that Musharraf was not asking for favours from US officials to avoid arrest in Pakistan.
During a telephonic address to a public gathering in Karachi, Musharraf had earlier announced that he was planning to return to Pakistan in the last week of January.
Nuland also said there were reports that Pakistan had decided to restore the NATO supply lines from Pakistan to Afghanistan, but added that Washington was still waiting for an official confirmation on the matter from the Pakistani side.
