Dara Singh, the legendary wrestler-actor from Punjab, who represented the country's wrestling heritage and style all over the world, died in Mumbai on Thursday evening around 7:30 morning; he was 83 years old. He was admitted to the hospital four days ago due to deteriorating health.
Dara Singh was born in British Punjab on November 19, 1928. Trained in wrestling from a young age, Dara Singh traveled around the world, wrestling some of the greatest names in the business. His duels with King Kong (Emile Czaja) are legendary. Dara Singh is one of the few wrestlers from India to have competed in American professional wrestling.
