Light rains in Delhi, more expected Monday

Parts of Delhi received light rains Sunday on a cloudy, humid day as the maximum temperature settled two notches above average at 35.5 degrees. The met office has forecast more rains Monday.

“The skies will be cloudy and one or two spells of rains are expected,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department adding that the maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 35 and 28 degrees Celsius.

The city received a total of 0.8 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Sunday, which began on a cloudy, humid note.

The minimum temperature settled a notch above average at 27.5 degrees Celsius while humidity wavered between a high of 89 percent and a low of 62 percent.

Saturday’s maximum and minimum temperature was both a notch above the average at 34.3 and 27.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

The national capital has seen a rain-deficit of 58 percent so far this season.
