Shortly after Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy proclaimed Wednesday that ex - Lok Sabha speaker P.A. Sangma had made the decision to leave the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), party chief Sharad Pawar stated he will allow the resignation.
“We will accept without delay. he is resigning through primary membership.we will notify speaker of Meghalaya assembly,” Pawar informed journalists.
general secretary D.P. Tripathi claimed that Terming Sangma’s move “unfortunate” he was amazed that the ex - speaker had not kept his words, and took a entirely different path.
“It is unfortutnate…I am surprised that Sangma did not adhere to his words…he had revealed us 10 days ago that he will certainly proceed by the party line,” Triptahi informed journalists.
Sangma is a member of the Meghalaya legislative assembly.
Tripathi declined to remark upon the position of the former Speaker’s daughter Agatha Sangma, who is a minister of state in the UPA government.
“Neither has she says a single thing on the presidential elections, nor has she resigned…I can not remark on her,” says Tripathi.
